Technicote Expands Holographic Polyester Offering with New Seamless Pattern

As the holidays quickly approach us, so does the glamour. Shopping aisles at retail outlets are jam packed with products dressed up in festive fashion to include labels and packaging that scream, “Celebrate”! Bright, shiny, and sparkly wrapped items light up the shelves as thousands of brands fight for the attention of billions of consumers through their marketing efforts. The boring, tiresome look of the “off-season” is now gone and has been replaced with a renewed presence of flash and flare.

There are only a few substrates on the market capable of transforming the drab look of a packaged product into a captivating work of art useful reference. One way of accomplishing this goal is through the use of holographic label materials.

Technicote offers a dynamic collection of pressure sensitive holographic polyester label products in a variety of spectacular patterns. Available in a 2 mil caliper thickness, our most popular patterns include the Rainbow, Sparkles, and Stardust designs, all which are available with your choice of adhesive and liner combination in 10 days or less!

The most recent addition to our holographic product line is our Seamless Rainbow pattern, which is true to its name. Comparable to the familiar Rainbow pattern of our industry, the new Seamless Rainbow product is completely seam-free! This dollar saving feature is a dream for label converters who regularly lose valuable production time and excess label scrap due to a visible seam which repeats through the entire roll of stock.

Our new 2 mil Seamless Rainbow Holographic Polyester available in stock with our TS523 adhesive and 50# SCK liner in a 30″ master web. All other all adhesive/liner combinations can coat and ship in 5-7 business days.

Samples and pricing are immediately available. Please contact your Technicote sales representative for more information.

Corona, California Plant Wins President’s Award for Safety

Doug O’Connell announced Technicote’s Corona, CA manufacturing plant as the recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding achievement. Please join us in congratulating our Corona, CA plant on successfully completing two years of production without a recordable injury.

This milestone was a team effort made possible because the Corona plant staff embraced and put into practice the following set of safety values and beliefs:

  • All injuries are preventable
  • Everyone is accountable for safety
  • Working safely is a condition of employment
  • Training to work safely is essential
  • Working safely is a good business practice

According to Plant Manager, George Parker, “This achievement was made possible by the commitment of each team member toward working safely each and every day, taking personal responsibility for their own safety, believing that all injuries are preventable, and understanding that safety is a good business practice.”

George and his team have gone above and beyond what is required by OSHA and he realizes that, “It really boils down to caring about our employees, caring about our company, and caring about our customers.”

Again, congratulations to George and his staff in Corona, CA for a job well done.

Technicote Celebrates Grand Re-Opening with Open House Event

Technicote celebrated its grand re-opening on April 20th with an Open House event at the company’s newly renovated manufacturing plant in northeastern Ohio.

Customers and Technicote employees joined together at 70 Marc Drive in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to attend a plant tour and lunch reception at the new building site, where just 16 months earlier, a devastating fire had taken place, destroying the original structure and nearly everything in it.

In addition to being 20% larger than the original structure, its open floor plan and 24’ ceilings provide greater operational efficiency and supports future expansion of the business.

Doug O’Connell, President, welcomed the guests, and Ralph Adkins, Director of Sales and Marketing, presented a slide show documenting the history of Technicote, which was originally founded in 1980 on this site. The presentation continued with highlights of the company’s manufacturing capabilities, product offerings and service programs before concluding with a plant tour, led by Dave Bolanz (Plant Manager) and Dave Eckelbecker (Slitting Supervisor).

Following the tour, the guests enjoyed a lunch reception with members of Technicote’s corporate management team, plant employees, and shareholders.

Technicote’s Roots Remain Strong in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

One year after a devastating fire left a large portion of Technicote’s manufacturing plant in smoky ruins, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, January 8th to announce the grand reopening of the newly renovated pressure sensitive adhesive and silicone coating facility located at 70 Marc Drive in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

The new building is 51,600 square feet; approximately 20% larger than the original structure to support additional expansion of the business including new equipment and upgrades. Operations are almost back to 100% from before the fire.

“A year ago when I was walking through the burned out shell of a building I could not have envisioned being here today celebrating the official opening of this facility,” recalled Doug O’Connell, President of Technicote. “I remember meeting with all the employees on Sunday afternoon, two days after the fire and telling them that we’d emerge from this set back stronger and better than ever. It’s very rewarding standing here today and seeing that vision being fulfilled.”

Technicote is very optimistic that with new manufacturing equipment, more efficient work flow processes, and expanded production capabilities, 2013 will be just the beginning for significant future sales growth for the company. “Our customers can look forward to our commitment to provide exceptional, specialty label and silicone coated liner products and an industry source for developing new product technology,” commented Gary Stover, Technicote’s Director of Marketing.

In closing, O’Connell thanked the multitude of people responsible for their efforts in the rebuilding project, including the local fire and police departments. “Most of all, I want to thank all of Technicote’s dedicated employees both here in Cuyahoga Falls, at Miamisburg, and at all our locations for working tirelessly to insure our success.”

Technicote Announces Plans to Rebuild Cuyahoga Falls, OH Manufacturing Plant

A Message from Technicote President, Doug O’Connell

Shortly after the tragic fire on Dec. 16th that destroyed the bulk of Technicote’s Cuyahoga Falls, OH plant, the company started evaluating different options to replace the capacity that was lost. The key factors in all the deliberations were how to improve our capabilities and be an even better supplier for our customers.

“After evaluating numerous options in various states and sites, we concluded rebuilding at our current location in Cuyahoga Falls, OH was the best option” stated Doug O’Connell, President of Technicote. “We were anxious to retain our experienced workforce, since they’re one of the keys to producing the unique products we offer. Rebuilding on the same site makes it easiest on our employees. Another factor was that the city of Cuyahoga Falls has been great to work with throughout this process. Finally, we were able to find a builder who can get our facility completed in a reasonably short timeframe.”

Technicote is now going through the approval process with city and county officials. The new manufacturing facility will include totally new state-of-the art adhesive and silicone coaters, new wide web slitters and an improved process flow design throughout the plant.

We expect this new facility to be operational in the 4th quarter of 2012 and to resume the manufacture of many specialty coated pressure sensitive products that other Technicote facilities have been producing for our customers. Our sincere appreciation goes out to our many customers that have been patient with Technicote during this difficult recovery period.

Technicote Launches 2.3 mil Polar White Polypropylene

Technicote is pleased to announce the addition of Polar White Polypropylene to our existing line of premium top-coated polypropylene film products. Due to ongoing supply issues, Technicote has spent considerable time and effort developing better solutions. The recent introduction of our “Value Plus” white polypropylene film is an excellent lower cost solution for many applications where a corona treated film is acceptable for ink receptivity. However, a topcoated film is still the preferred choice by many converters. To meet this market need, Technicote (working in conjunction with a major domestic manufacturer of BOPP) developed 2.3 mil Polar White Polypropylene. This product is a gloss white, topcoated film with properties and characteristics that closely resemble our longstanding premium grade, 2.3 mil Majestic White.

2.3 mil Polar White BOPP is available TRIM FREE in a 5,000’ roll length out of our Terre Haute, IN manufacturing plant with our TS523 adhesive and 40# SCK liner (Item#572133) with two day service. At our West Coast manufacturing facility in Corona, CA, Polar White Polypropylene is available TRIM FREE with our AT333 adhesive and a 40# SCK release liner (Item#572135). Alternative adhesive and liner constructions are also available as a custom coat item with a five day lead time.

Sheet or roll samples of Technicote’s new Polar White Polypropylene are available by contacting your sales representative, or by calling our Customer Service Department direct at 800-358-4448.
