Technicote’s Roots Remain Strong in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

By | Press Releases

One year after a devastating fire left a large portion of Technicote’s manufacturing plant in smoky ruins, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, January 8th to announce the grand reopening of the newly renovated pressure sensitive adhesive and silicone coating facility located at 70 Marc Drive in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

The new building is 51,600 square feet; approximately 20% larger than the original structure to support additional expansion of the business including new equipment and upgrades. Operations are almost back to 100% from before the fire.

“A year ago when I was walking through the burned out shell of a building I could not have envisioned being here today celebrating the official opening of this facility,” recalled Doug O’Connell, President of Technicote. “I remember meeting with all the employees on Sunday afternoon, two days after the fire and telling them that we’d emerge from this set back stronger and better than ever. It’s very rewarding standing here today and seeing that vision being fulfilled.”

Technicote is very optimistic that with new manufacturing equipment, more efficient work flow processes, and expanded production capabilities, 2013 will be just the beginning for significant future sales growth for the company. “Our customers can look forward to our commitment to provide exceptional, specialty label and silicone coated liner products and an industry source for developing new product technology,” commented Gary Stover, Technicote’s Director of Marketing.

In closing, O’Connell thanked the multitude of people responsible for their efforts in the rebuilding project, including the local fire and police departments. “Most of all, I want to thank all of Technicote’s dedicated employees both here in Cuyahoga Falls, at Miamisburg, and at all our locations for working tirelessly to insure our success.”

Technicote Launches New Drum Label Product Line

By | Press Releases

Technicote is pleased to introduce a new selection of pressure sensitive label products recommended for chemical drum & barrel applications. Featured on the company’s new DL400 adhesive, these materials are designed to withstand harsh weather and environments such as extreme heat, brutal cold, high moisture, dangerous chemicals, UV light and solvents. • 2 mil White TC Polyester is a glossy white top-coated film with outstanding outdoor durability, chemical and weather resistance. This film is compatible with water-based flexo, UV flexo, and thermal transfer print methods.

• 4 mil Flexible White NTC Vinyl is a smooth, matte white, non –top-coated film with polymeric plasticizers, formulated to provide high durability, as well as chemical and moisture resistance. Excellent outdoor durability. Requires converter applied top-coat or ink recommended by ink supplier prior to printing this NTC film.

• 3.5 mil White Techni-Flex Polyolefin is a matte white label film that offers excellent moisture resistance, chemical resistance, smudge resistance, dimensional stability and squeezability. .

DL400 is an aggressive emulsion acrylic adhesive that has been specifically formulated for use in durable label applications such as chemical & barrel drums, lawn & garden equipment and household & commercial appliances. This adhesive offers outstanding adhesion to painted steel drums, fiber drums and a variety of plastic drums under high moisture conditions, as well as direct exposure to chemicals, solvents and UV rays.

Technicote Unveils New Digital Product Portfolio

Technicote has expanded our portfolio of digital label products, which are 3-Star Certified to run on HP Indigo presses.

Digital printing technology is revolutionizing the rapidly growing label printing industry. Lower production costs, reduced set-up times, high resolution printing, short to medium run label order flexibility and less impact on the environment are just a few reasons converters are embracing this new technology. Technicote is keeping pace with this demand in the marketplace, growing its qualified digital paper and film substrates for applications such as Wine & Spirits, Specialty Foods,

Nutraceuticals, Health & Beauty, Medical, and Durable Goods.

Technicote has a unique offering in our “Dry Edge” adhesive coating process. It is currently available with most of our digital label products used with HP Indigo digital presses. This 1/8″ adhesive “Dry Edge” on each side of the roll label will significantly reduce the potential for adhesive build up on press. This is an added value option, at no additional cost!

Technicote Launches 2.6 mil Pearl White Polypropylene

In response to customers’ concerns about rising raw material costs, Technicote has developed a “Value Grade” line of polypropylene products to satisfy a variety of prime label applications at an economical price. Although our 2 mil Clear and 2.3 mil White Value Plus BOPP films have been well received by converters throughout the industry, the request for a 2.6 mil Value Grade cavitated film has also been in demand. After several months of R & D, Technicote is pleased to announce the commercial launch of Pearl White Polypropylene.

2.6 mil Pearl White BOPP features a pearlescent finish, outstanding opacity and excellent stiffness properties for label dispensing. Like our Value Grade films, this product is corona treated for excellent ink adhesion and is recommended with permanent adhesives only. 2.6 mil Pearl White BOPP may be printed using standard methods. Thermal transfer printing is NOT recommended. The new film is recommended for a variety of prime label applications in markets such as Health & Beauty, Personal Care and Household Products, among others.

Technicote Launches 2.3 mil Polar White Polypropylene

Technicote is pleased to announce the addition of Polar White Polypropylene to our existing line of premium top-coated polypropylene film products. Due to ongoing supply issues, Technicote has spent considerable time and effort developing better solutions. The recent introduction of our “Value Plus” white polypropylene film is an excellent lower cost solution for many applications where a corona treated film is acceptable for ink receptivity. However, a topcoated film is still the preferred choice by many converters. To meet this market need, Technicote (working in conjunction with a major domestic manufacturer of BOPP) developed 2.3 mil Polar White Polypropylene. This product is a gloss white, topcoated film with properties and characteristics that closely resemble our longstanding premium grade, 2.3 mil Majestic White.

2.3 mil Polar White BOPP is available TRIM FREE in a 5,000’ roll length out of our Terre Haute, IN manufacturing plant with our TS523 adhesive and 40# SCK liner (Item#572133) with two day service. At our West Coast manufacturing facility in Corona, CA, Polar White Polypropylene is available TRIM FREE with our AT333 adhesive and a 40# SCK release liner (Item#572135). Alternative adhesive and liner constructions are also available as a custom coat item with a five day lead time.

Sheet or roll samples of Technicote’s new Polar White Polypropylene are available by contacting your sales representative, or by calling our Customer Service Department direct at 800-358-4448.
