Technicote Celebrates Grand Re-Opening with Open House Event

Technicote celebrated its grand re-opening on April 20th with an Open House event at the company’s newly renovated manufacturing plant in northeastern Ohio.

Customers and Technicote employees joined together at 70 Marc Drive in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to attend a plant tour and lunch reception at the new building site, where just 16 months earlier, a devastating fire had taken place, destroying the original structure and nearly everything in it.

In addition to being 20% larger than the original structure, its open floor plan and 24’ ceilings provide greater operational efficiency and supports future expansion of the business.

Doug O’Connell, President, welcomed the guests, and Ralph Adkins, Director of Sales and Marketing, presented a slide show documenting the history of Technicote, which was originally founded in 1980 on this site. The presentation continued with highlights of the company’s manufacturing capabilities, product offerings and service programs before concluding with a plant tour, led by Dave Bolanz (Plant Manager) and Dave Eckelbecker (Slitting Supervisor).

Following the tour, the guests enjoyed a lunch reception with members of Technicote’s corporate management team, plant employees, and shareholders.

In closing, O’Connell thanked the multitude of people responsible for their efforts in the rebuilding project, including the local fire and police departments. “Most of all, I want to thank all of Technicote’s dedicated employees both here in Cuyahoga Falls, at Miamisburg, and at all our locations for working tirelessly to insure our success.”

Technicote Announces Plans to Rebuild Cuyahoga Falls, OH Manufacturing Plant

A Message from Technicote President, Doug O’Connell

Shortly after the tragic fire on Dec. 16th that destroyed the bulk of Technicote’s Cuyahoga Falls, OH plant, the company started evaluating different options to replace the capacity that was lost. The key factors in all the deliberations were how to improve our capabilities and be an even better supplier for our customers.

“After evaluating numerous options in various states and sites, we concluded rebuilding at our current location in Cuyahoga Falls, OH was the best option” stated Doug O’Connell, President of Technicote. “We were anxious to retain our experienced workforce, since they’re one of the keys to producing the unique products we offer. Rebuilding on the same site makes it easiest on our employees. Another factor was that the city of Cuyahoga Falls has been great to work with throughout this process. Finally, we were able to find a builder who can get our facility completed in a reasonably short timeframe.”

Technicote is now going through the approval process with city and county officials. The new manufacturing facility will include totally new state-of-the art adhesive and silicone coaters, new wide web slitters and an improved process flow design throughout the plant.

We expect this new facility to be operational in the 4th quarter of 2012 and to resume the manufacture of many specialty coated pressure sensitive products that other Technicote facilities have been producing for our customers. Our sincere appreciation goes out to our many customers that have been patient with Technicote during this difficult recovery period.

Estate Label #6 White Pearlized Launched on West Coast

Technicote is pleased to announce the launch of its new Technicote Membership Card polypropylene film base, a unique pressure sensitive coupon product designed for direct mail packages that require cards to be affixed to continuous forms or cut sheets. This exciting new product is the optimal solution for all varieties of affixed card applications used for fundraising, clubs, banks, and other membership oriented organizations.

The product consists of two thin layers of polypropylene film bonded together with a specialty dry-release adhesive. The film construction is then coated with Technicote’s TP170 adhesive and 40# SCK release liner. The familiar dry-release adhesive pattern of Technicote’s IRC film base has been incorporated into Technicote Membership Card, but modified to provide a tight release for successful converting and auto-dispense processes. The purpose of the tight release is to help prevent the film layers from separating prematurely. The pattern provides a built-in lift edge on all sides of the film, affording universal release from the form to which it is applied. Technicote Membership provides excellent durability during secondary laser printing processes; keeping the product intact as it becomes exposed to high temperatures during this operation. The product is suitable for flexographic printing, as well as signature compatible. Technicote Membership Card is stocked in Technicote’s Cuyahoga Falls, OH manufacturing plant for quick turnaround.
