Technicote Establishes Dirk J. Desanzo Scholarship Fund to Benefit Children of Technicote Employees

Technicote founder and first president, Dirk Desanzo, who passed away suddenly in March, was a man who valued lifelong learning, in both himself and his employees. Throughout his life, he encouraged people to learn, to grow personally and use the knowledge and hard work that they invested to build a great company which is the legacy that all Technicote employees share with Dirk.

A scholarship fund has been established in Dirk’s name to benefit the children of Technicote employees.

The Dirk J. Desanzo Scholarship Fund provides for a generous annual tuition award payable upon freshman enrollment in college and will repeat for three successive years if the recipient achieves a mandated level of performance as verified by the college they attend.

The fund has been established with the AKRON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (ACF) as the administrator. The ACF is responsible for investing, evaluating and selecting successful applicants as well as monitoring and administering the scholarships.

The initial award will be for the academic year commencing in the fall of 2007. During the first award year, eligible high school graduates from 2004, 2005 and 2006 who are currently enrolled in an eligible college program will be considered for annual awards for the years remaining in their degree programs for a total of four years.

In a recent statement to all Technicote employees company president Anthony Vinciguerra commented as follows:

“I know that Dirk would be proud to see the children of the employees of the company he built compete vigorously for this award in his name and I encourage all employees with eligible children to submit their application.”
